16th European Meeting on Ancient Ceramics
The European Meeting on Ancient Ceramics (EMAC) is a biennial conference convening scholars and young researchers with diverse academic backgrounds from both the humanities and sciences. The meeting aims to promote interdisciplinary and integrated studies of ancient ceramics, covering various aspects ranging from production, dissemination, and use to post-depositional alteration and conservation. Methodological developments, new approaches, and scientific advances are presented in terms of analytical and measuring techniques, data processing, and interpretation.

Registration opening: September 2022
Abstract submission: from 15 November 2025 to 15 January 2026
Notification of abstract acceptance and online publication of scientific programme: April 2023
Deadline for Online Registration: 15 May 2026

General information
If you wish to submit an abstract, you must register for the conference and fill in the abstract form. Registration payment can be made after acceptance of the abstract.
English is the international language of the EMAC, therefore abstracts, oral presentations and posters should be in English.

- 15-minute presentation + 5-minute questions
Notes for poster presentations
- Posters should be A0 regular big in portrait orientation (+photo)
Venue
The 16th EMAC will be held by the University of Pisa at the Aula Magna-Polo Piagge, Via Giacomo Matteotti, 56124 Pisa PI, Italy.
The venue can be easily reached from the city centre by foot or by public transport
